Hats off to Jim Harff, the man who wrote the March 10 letter regarding the person who was allowed to drive away from a methadone clinic, after which he caused an accident that claimed another man’s life. Eye doctors want people to have a driver with them if they’ve had their pupils dilated. Hospitals want patients to have a driver if they’ve been given a sedative for an outpatient procedure. And, last but not least, a police officer certainly won’t allow a person to drive away if that person has been driving under the influence of alcohol or drugs. Who runs the methadone clinics? Are they in the medical field? It makes no sense that someone going to a methadone clinic for treatment is allowed to drive away. There are too many irresponsible people and too many innocent people paying the price.
