Woman injured in car-truck crash this morning

CONNOQUENESSING TWP — A Renfrew woman whose car collided head-on with a truck on Route 68 just before 8 a.m. today was flown to a Pittsburgh hospital.
Lynda Nicoll’s condition was not known by mid morning.
Rescuers had to cut open the vehicle to get Nicoll out of her car.
According to police and occupants of the box truck involved in the accident, Nicoll’s eastbound car, a two-door Monte Carlo, drifted over the center line and hit the box truck, even as the truck’s driver, Tom Buzard of Parker, tried to avoid the collision by driving the westbound truck onto an embankment.
Neither Buzard nor either of the two passengers in the truck was taken to a hospital.
The accident happened near the intersection with Orchard Drive.
Police halted traffic in both directions shortly after 9 a.m. to allow a tow truck to clear the vehicles from the road.
Michael Allday, owner of Allday’s Insulation in Butler, said he considered his box truck to be totaled.
