Republican Pat Stirling, 63, of Lancaster Township has announced her candidacy for Butler County jury commissioner in the May 21 primary election. Stirling, secretary of the Butler County Republican Committee, noted that her work as director of presidential and senatorial campaigns in the county were good preparation for the position. “The jury commissioner serves both the court and the people of Butler County. Scheduling volunteers, arranging campaign events and dealing with the public; it’s all been a great experience that will be useful in the office,” Stirling said in a release. She was elected five times by Republicans to represent the county on the Republican State Committee. In 2005, she founded the Republican Women of Butler County, and she was recognized by the Pennsylvania Federation of Republican Women for her efforts in mentoring other women in politics. Stirling, a mother and grandmother, resides with her husband in Lancaster Township. Current Republican jury commissioner Jon Galante on Monday announced he would run for a second term. Democratic jury commissioner Clinton Bonetti currently has no opponent for the primary election.
