CRANBERRY TWP — Township police confirmed Friday that the skeletal remains found Feb. 16 along Dutilh Road are those of a former Beaver County man reported missing in July, but it still is not known how he died or why he was in the township.

Dental records and a driver’s license discovered near the remains were used to identify Christopher Alan Menosky, according to a statement released Friday afternoon by township police.

The cause of death still is unknown, but there are no indications of foul play, police stated.

A man walking from UPMC Passavant Cranberry to the Cranberry Mall about 2:30 p.m. Feb. 16 came upon the human skeleton about 50 yards off Dutilh Road. The skull had a complete set of teeth.

According to earlier police reports, Menosky has apparently not had a fixed address for two years, and the investigation has not revealed why he was in Cranberry.

His personal information was entered into the FBI’s National Crime Information Center’s Missing and Unidentified Person Database, after his family reported him missing.
