Raise retirement pay

Since 2008, county government retirees have not gotten a cost-of-living increase. But now the county commissioners are talking about such raises for county row officers.

If the county doesn’t have enough money for retiree increases, why are cost-of-living increases being considered for anyone else?

The county retirement board is obligated to consider every three years whether to give retirees a cost-of-living raise, but it has no obligation to approve one.

Unfortunately, it hasn’t approved any.
