A Butler County Prison corrections officer has been fired for alleged infractions involving medication and an inmate.

According to sources, Capt. Judy Wolfe was fired Wednesday in connection with incidents linked to prescription medication and for allegedly giving preferential treatment to an incarcerated relative.

Wolfe initially was suspended with pay Feb. 13. Further information about the alleged violations was unavailable.

Warden Rick Shaffer declined to comment.

“It’s a personnel matter,” he said.

County Commissioner Dale Pinkerton, who is prison board chairman, and county solicitor Mike English also would not comment.

Commissioner Jim Eckstein, another prison board member, wouldn’t discuss the specifics of the case, but said he supported the decision to fire Wolf upon reviewing the circumstances.

“They did the right thing,” Eckstein said.

Neal Sanders, Wolfe’s attorney, also refused to comment.

Following her Feb. 13 suspension, Wolfe filed a sex discrimination complaint against the prison with the U.S. Equal Employment Opportunity Commission.

The complaint alleges Wolfe was targeted due to her gender so the prison could pave the way to replace her as captain with a male employee.

According to Wolfe in the complaint, “I did nothing wrong to deserve such treatment. I am the only female captain.”

She was the only woman filling one of five captain slots.

She alleges suffering an unjust disciplinary action, which was not specified, in the summer of 2012.

Wolfe of Harmony was hired in May 2000. She was promoted to sergeant in 2003 and then advanced to captain in 2010.
