SRU student charged with selling marijuana

SLIPPERY ROCK — A drug sale was undone Friday night after the alleged buyers made the mistake of parking illegally in a handicapped space.

Tyler J. Dagres, 19, of Grove City and a freshman at Slippery Rock University, was charged with possession with intent to deliver a controlled substance, possession of drug paraphernalia, possession of a small amount of marijuana and corruption of minors after SRU police allege he tried to sell about an ounce of marijuana to a 15-year-old.

According to court documents, SRU police noticed a green Buick sedan in a handicapped parking space on Campus Drive near Rhoads Hall. They went up to the car, intending to tell the driver to move.

But as officers approached, they saw someone reach into the car through the rear, driver’s side window.

The individual, later identified as Dagres, was ordered to put his hands in the air, at which point police allegedly saw a baggie of marijuana poking out of his sleeve. That 1.9-ounce bag and another bag, allegedly in plain view on the car seat and weighing 14.8 grams, were confiscated and Dagres was arrested.

It is unknown whether anyone in the car was charged, and SRU police were unavailable by telephone Saturday morning for comment.
