Horse options exist

As volunteer secretary-treasurer of Equine Angels Rescue, I thank all who appreciate what this organization does to help horses.
Horse neglect is a much bigger problem than seen at first glance, and it is not our desire to leave people stranded with a horse they cannot pay to feed or provide proper care.
For those who can no longer care for their horse, one option is re-homing. The second option is to give the horse a humane euthanization, if there is no other option.
To send a horse to slaughter, giving such an inhumane death, is not fair to a pet or animal that has worked hard for its owner and given him or her pleasure.
All animals should be treated with kindness, but horses have not been designated as cows, pigs, sheep, etc. Horses do not fall into the same category as those animals that are raised for their meat.
On another issue:
Backyard breeders need to learn the consequences involved with allowing a stallion to run with mares, and the responsibility that a newborn foal involves.
If someone needs help with his or her horse or horses, Equine Angels Rescue will try to help as much as possible.
