On Jan. 31, I received an email titled “An Oath to Defend” from my state representative, Daryl Metcalfe. Metcalfe said, “I believe that it is important for every patriotic American to embrace the duty of defending our Constitution.”

On Tuesday, Gov. Tom Corbett announced a plan to alter the state employee pension system and violate hundreds of thousands of Pennsylvanians’ rights. Article I, Section 17, of the state constitution reads, “No ex post facto law, nor any law impairing the obligation of contracts, or making irrevocable any grant of special privileges or immunities, shall be passed.”

If Metcalfe is as “patriotic” as he claims, I would expect him to rail against this clear violation of our constitutional rights as vehemently as he does for our U.S. Constitution 2nd Amendment rights.
