Patrol car rams tree, injuring 2 Pa. troopers

KELTON, Pa. — State police say two troopers were injured when their patrol car went off the road and hit a tree head-on as they were responding to a burglary call.
Police in Chester County say the vehicle veered off Route 796 in Penn Township on a curve at about 5:30 a.m. Friday.
Both troopers lost consciousness and the car caught fire, fully engulfing the front of the vehicle.
Other troopers responding to the same accident put out the blaze using a fire extinguisher and running to nearby homes to get buckets of water.
One trooper was treated and released. The other was listed in stable condition in Christiana Hospital.
Police said the burglary call came from an elderly woman “who was confused and may be suffering from some form of dementia.”
