Freezing rain leads to many accidents

Rain that froze when it hit cold road surfaces caused numerous accidents and forced the closing of Route 422 near Butler.
The number of crashes taxed police and fire departments as they tried to get to accident scenes. In at least one case, an ambulance en route to a call had to cancel because it was stuck on Route 422 because of the ice.
