Event raised $3,800

On Dec. 8, Marcellus Outreach Butler (MOB) sponsored the Water for Woodlands fundraiser at Camp Lutherlyn in Prospect, to benefit the families in the Woodlands area of Connoquenessing Township who still don’t have safe water.

MOB would like to express appreciation to all the people who made the event possible.

First and foremost, we thank Camp Lutherlyn for waiving the fee for renting its banquet hall, and the Lutherlyn staff for the great food and hospitality during the event.

We also want to thank the many people who contributed wonderful items for the Chinese auction and baked goods for the dessert table.

Grugi, InDecision (now the Highland Bros. Band) and T. Mitchell Bell donated their musical talents, entertaining the more than 150 adults and children who attended.

Pittsburgh musician Mike Stout donated CDs of his music for the auction and copies of the book “Shalefield Stories.”

The children got a special treat when Santa arrived. The children also loved the crafts.

Through the event, MOB raised more than $3,800 for Water for Woodlands, the grass-roots tax-exempt organization that is supplying the impacted families with bottled water on a weekly basis. However, much more is needed.

People can visit waterforwoodlands.org and donate what they can to help.
