Butler County's great daily newspaper

Cut officials' pay

That front-page headline of Dec. 4 about a proposed 2-mill county tax increase reinforced my opinion that the county commissioners’ salaries are a big problem.

The commissioners could take a cut of 50 percent and still be earning much more than my husband earned.

Also on the county government front, there’s the problem of residents at Sunnyview Nursing and Rehabilitation Center not eating all the meals they receive, because the meals have too much food, or the residents don’t like what is being served. That’s waste.

Meanwhile, if I had a $250,000 income, there would be no hesitation by me regarding paying higher taxes on that income. For shame!

And Orlando Pride III had another fantastic letter on Dec. 5 about the national debt.

Finally, thanks are in order to the Butler Eagle for reminding us, by way of the Dec. 5 editorial, about all of the former state lawmakers serving prison time.
