November is National Home Care and Hospice Month and a time when employees and caregivers are recognized for dedication and hard work throughout the year.

This year, in addition to commending and recognizing our staff for the countless hours they put into taking care of our community, the Visiting Nurses Association of Western Pennsylvania would like to thank and recognize our community for the tremendous support we receive not only in November, but throughout the year.

In May 2010, VNA opened the VNA Inpatient Hospice in Butler to meet a need in the community for this advanced level of hospice care. This state-of-the-art facility gives hospice patients who require intense symptom management a place to receive 24-hour care in an inviting, homelike environment.

Backed by the community from the beginning, starting with our capital campaign to ongoing support, we have been able to fulfill our mission to care for those who are in the final stages of life with care, comfort and dignity while focusing on their quality of life and supporting their loved ones.

We have seen just over 1,000 patients and families in our facility and are extremely grateful to those who have put their trust and confidence in us at such a difficult time in their lives.

It is an honor and privilege to be invited to participate in caring for people’s loved ones.
