Ring found, returned

Recently, I lost my diamond ring. After making a few stops on my way home from work, I realized my ring wasn’t on my hand.

I retraced my stops — throughout stores and cold, rainy parking lots. I left my phone number with a few places, including Eat ‘N’ Park on New Castle Road.

I know I shouldn’t have been upset about losing such a materialistic possession. Usually, I’m not. People are valuable; things are just things.

It was after Superstorm Sandy hit. People had lost their lives. Millions had lost their homes, food, jobs, electricity, and all their possessions. And here I was, missing one small ring.

A few days later, a man from Eat ‘N’ Park who identified himself as Mike called. He asked questions about my ring and said a customer turned in a ring that looked like the one I described.

Sure enough, it was my ring.

My husband gave that ring to me 10 years ago for our 25th wedding anniversary.

I am so thankful for the Eat ‘N’ Park customer who found and turned in my ring. I am thankful there still are people of integrity who do what is right.
