Obamacare good start

GG Regina Ann Telech

Having read Robert Samuelson’s Oct. 24 column about Obamacare, I had to respond.
I agree that any piece of legislation is difficult to read and understand. But by looking at only one part of the Affordable Care Act (part-time versus full-time employees), one misses so many good parts of it.
Having a child on the parents’ insurance until age 26 makes it possible for these kids to take jobs that are introductory positions and not have to worry about health care right out of college.
Getting experience and looking for better and higher-paying jobs while staying on their parents’ insurance is a big help for young people.
Also, on the matter of pre-existing conditions, as a registered nurse I hear horror stories every day about people who had to wait and fight when they left their jobs or switched insurances to have a surgical procedure done due to their health history.
So, is the Affordable Care Act perfect? No. But it’s an important start in our journey as a country to provide health care for everyone.
