A former worker in the Butler County district attorney’s office says she was unfairly blamed for the loss of a federal grant.

Linda Cranmer, the former victim witness assistant coordinator, said Thursday at the county commissioners meeting that her former boss, District Attorney Richard Goldinger, knew the grant application was late.

Goldinger said in an interview Cranmer told her the application for the Arrest Grant would not be late.

According to Goldinger, Cranmer erroneously sent an application via postal delivery. He said the Department of Justice only accepts electronic submissions and the mailed application was sent to the wrong address.

Cranmer, who was suspended without pay on Oct. 11, said she was told Friday her only choices were to quit or be fired. She subsequently resigned.

Goldinger would only confirm Cranmer quit before being fired.
