Seneca Valley fifth grade special education teacher John Schmidt, center, helps Haine Middle School students plant tulips as part of the school's Make-A-Diffence Day on Oct. 26. Students planted 180 tulips in the front of the school as a way to show how to “make a difference” at school and in the community. The students also read “A Child's Garden, A Story of Hope” by Michael Foreman and discussed how this simple tale of healing and renewal pays gentle tribute to the human spirit.
