Substitute teacher lands jury commissioner post

Jon Galante, 27, of Butler Township will fill the vacant Butler County jury commissioner post.
County President Judge Thomas Doerr earlier today appointed Galante to succeed Larry Thompson, who vacated the seat to become the chief deputy register of wills/clerk of orphans’ court.
The part-time job, which oversees the jury selection post, pays roughly $15,000 annually and has health benefits.
Galante, who previously ran for the post, said he sought the job because he has a passion to serve others.
He is a substitute teacher, a referee for high school sports and an umpire for college baseball.
