Voting record poor

I recently received a newsletter from the National Committee to Preserve Social Security and Medicare. In it was a recap of how Congressman Mike Kelly has voted on issues directly affecting his constituents. It should come as no surprise that, in the committee’s view, he voted wrong seven out of seven times.

He voted for the devastating Ryan budget resolution that would effectively destroy Social Security and Medicare. He voted against a measure that would have extended tax cuts for everyone making under $250,000 a year.

I could go on and on, but I think readers can get the message. Do we really need someone in Congress who is unwilling to compromise?

He’s in office just to vote with his party on everything. There are so many things that need to be addressed — in Butler, Erie and everywhere in between — but for two years I have seen no movement on his part regarding bringing jobs to our area or doing the right thing for our senior citizens, veterans, the poor and the working poor.

Things have to change, and the only way to do that is to put someone in the House of Representatives who will vote the right way on critical issues.

Missa Eaton is that someone.

I urge that when voters, Republicans and Democrats, go to the polls on Nov. 6, they think about their families, the elderly and our veterans and give Eaton a chance.
