Diehl Auto gets naming rights to Karns City stadium



KARNS CITY — The Karns City School Board agreed Wednesday night to sell football stadium naming rights to the Diehl Automotive Group, Butler.
Diehl has agreed to buy and install a scoreboard for the stadium, said Eric Ritzert, superintendent, this morning. The scoreboard is expected to cost about $40,000, he said, and will be installed in March or April.
The stadium will be named Diehl Stadium. A final vote will come at the board’s Nov. 12 meeting after details are ironed out.
“It (naming rights) will be for the life of the scoreboard or not to exceed 20 years. Something like that,” said Ritzert.
District administrators and school board members are writing a policy to govern how outside funds will be accepted by the district, including naming rights to facilities.
The policy will be opened for public input.
