Rt. 422 accident kills man this morning

WEST FRANKLIN TWP, Armstrong County — One motorist was killed and another seriously injured early this morning when their car slammed into a tri-axle truck on Route 422 at the Armstrong-Butler County line, authorities said.
The accident closed the highway for about two hours.
Investigators believe the crash about 5:25 a.m. happened after the driver of the car swerved to avoid a dead deer on the four-lane highway between Mushroom Farm and County Line roads.
Armstrong County Deputy Coroner Brian Myers, who pronounced the man dead at the scene, would only say he was in his 30s and from Indiana County.
The truck driver was not believed to be hurt.
State police were investigating this morning but an accident report was not immediately available.
Police closed the highway to traffic while accidental reconstruction specialists investigated. The road was partially reopened about 8 a.m.
