Brother, sister dispute leads to stabbing

A sibling fight Monday afternoon in Butler ended with a teenager stabbed in the leg and his older sister jailed on felony and misdemeanor assault charges, city police said.

Officers arrested 23-year-old Ashley Morabito following the domestic dispute shortly before 5 p.m. at her family’s home on Roosevelt Boulevard near Greenview Gardens.

Police suspect she attacked 18-year-old Nicholas Morabito with a kitchen knife. He was taken to Butler Memorial Hospital where he needed four stitches to close the stab wound in his right thigh.

Officers were called to the family’s home and found Nicholas Morabito bleeding from a “puncture wound,” according to a police report.

Police said the brother and sister blamed the other for instigating the fight.

Police said the knife has a 6-inch blade.

Morabito, who is charged with aggravated assault and simple assault, is in the Butler County Prison on $15,000 bail.
