State’s largest cyber school fires 4 top executives

MIDLAND, Pa. — The board of the state’s largest cyber school has fired four of its top administrators, though a spokeswoman this morning would not say if that has anything to do with a federal investigation of the school’s finances that surfaced in July.
Pennsylvania Cyber Charter School spokeswoman Christina Zarek today confirms Tuesday’s firings of the school’s executive director, chief financial officer, chief compliance officer and personnel director.
The school also fired its law firm, Barry & Worner LLC, without explanation. The law firm issued a statement saying it was “shocked” and “entirely unaware” of a reason for its removal.
Zarek wouldn’t say if the moves are related to federal search warrants and subpoenas issue in July, a month after the school’s founder resigned.
Federal prosecutors in Pittsburgh aren’t commenting on the firings or the investigation.
