2 county teens arrested for burglary

RICHLAND TWP, Allegheny County — Two Butler County teenagers, both wearing ski masks and one wielding a baseball bat, are accused of breaking into a house here Monday afternoon.

The brazen home invasion about 4 p.m. forced a 17-year-old boy inside to flee into nearby woods for safety, Northern Regional police said,

No one was hurt and officers soon arrested one suspect, a 17-year-old boy, before he could run away. Police did not identify him.

The other suspect, 18-year-old Leo J. Nealon, was arrested about two hours later.

Both suspects from Middlesex Township are charged with burglary, conspiracy and possessing an instrument of crime.

Nealon is in the Allegheny County Jail awaiting arraignment this morning.

The younger boy is in the Shuman Juvenile Detention Center in Pittsburgh. He is charged in juvenile court.

Investigators do not believe the burglary at the home in the 3600 block of Sandy Hill Road, which is about a mile from the Butler County line, was a random crime.

“We think the (suspects) knew the victim,” said Northern Regional police Chief Bob Amann.

Officers got to the house and nabbed the younger suspect. However, his accomplice ran into the woods.

The suspected burglars apparently were trying to steal electronics but dropped the items in the home when they saw police.
