On Aug. 3, I went south on Interstate 79 to Pittsburgh.
The state Department of Transportation is rebuilding the bridge over Connoquenessing Creek near Zelienople. Alerts to this work began to appear eight to 10 miles to the north.
A couple of miles north of the bridge, PennDOT had one of those flashing electronic signs stating, “Lefe lane closed ahead.” That’s right: an “e” for a “t”!
It’s a bit disconcerting that we give PennDOT tens of millions of dollars every year to design and build roads and bridges, but the Transportation Department can’t spell.
