I am writing about the strip of Route 8 from the Clearview Mall to downtown Butler.

Even when the speed limit goes down to 35 mph from 45 mph, vehicles continue to speed.

The motorcycle accident on June 23 that resulted in a death should be an eye-opener to not just drivers but also the police. Hardly ever is there a police presence in that area.

It would be nice to see the three applicable police agencies (Butler Township, city of Butler and the state police) enforce the speed limit in that area.

I have seen drivers go way over 50 mph trying to pass others and get ahead of them before the passing lane ends at crossing areas, and at traffic lights.
