Letter was troubling

I read a letter to the editor the other day that seemed to indicate that people owe their lives to the government, not to God.
The letter seemed to indicate that government has given people everything — that God is not in charge, and that people don’t get their freedoms and liberty from God but from the government.
The thinking the letter seemed to promote was that government owns everything because government provides people with food, their home and their clothing. The message seemed to be that people couldn’t survive without their government — and that if government wanted to kill someone, it could.
In addition, there seemed to be the message that there is no God.
I knew I should have read the beginning of the letter first because I was wrong. It wasn’t the government; the letter was about the mother of an unborn child of God.
