Butler YMCA announces new CEO

The Butler County Family YMCA’s new CEO is a 38-year veteran of the YMCA.
Bill Kunert, 57, will take over that position March 5.
“It’s a wonderful opportunity to take my skill set from Pittsburgh and help out the Butler County Family YMCA,” Kunert said Thursday when his hiring was announced.
He is the district vice president of the YMCA of Greater Pittsburgh, where he has managed multisite locations and provided leadership with development, capital projects, member services, program services, child care, and fundraising.
Kunert is replacing Larry Garvin, who retired in August.
He started in 1974 as a part-time staff person with the North Borough’s YMCA. In 1980, he became the executive director of that branch.
In 1986, he was named the executive director of the North Hills YMCA. He worked there for more than 20 years.
Kunert lives in Cranberry Township with his wife of 32 years, Jan, who is a dental assistant. They have two daughters and two granddaughters.
