CRANBERRY TWP — A new traffic signal at Freedom Road and Haldeman Drive was to begin flashing Tuesday and is expected to be fully operational Thursday. State Department of Transportation District 10 officials said the signal is part of the $1.5 million Freedom Road municipal project. That project, which began in July, is a partnership between Cranberry and PennDOT. The improvements along the state-owned Freedom Road occurred in the section between Haldeman Drive and Bucks Road. In addition to the traffic signal, the project included the addition of an opposing left turn lane in the existing two-lane section. There also are improvements along Freedom Road at the intersections with Haldeman Drive, Thorn Hill Drive and Bucks Road. The average daily traffic on Freedom Road is 25,566 vehicles, with 4 percent of that being tractor-trailers.
