The supervisors Monday night:

• Approved a request by Charlie Vrabel, owner of Brickyard Plaza, to build a connecting driveway in the plaza to make it more convenient for motorists going from the original to the new parts of the development.

• Approved a revised set of rules and regulations for those renting or using the township building’s meeting room. The changes may be viewed at the municipal building during regular business hours.

• Approved the acceptance of a $1,000 grant to build a sign at the park containing rules for park users. As part of the grant, the township will also pay $1,000 toward the project.

• Approved the acceptance of bids for two police cars. Specifications are available at the township building on Valencia Road during regular business hours.

The board, at its meeting Monday:• Approved a 2011-12 memorandum of understanding with the Midwestern Intermediate Unit IV for the unit to provide special education instructional programs and services at an anticipated cost of $514,885.Paul Cessar, district business manager, said most students are taught in the district, but sometimes students are sent to classes in other districts taught by instructors from the intermediate unit when the district cannot accommodate the students' needs.• Heard board Vice President Ken Speer encourage district residents to attend the Feb. 6 meeting of the committee that has been working on what to do with Har-Mer Elementary School, which is at 42 percent capacity. The committee also is considering the future of other elementary schools. The meeting starts at 6:30 p.m. at Har-Mer Elementary in Harrisville.Speer said in an interview that people who cannot make the meeting can e-mail him at kenneth_speer@slip peryrock.k12.pa.us with their concerns.• Heard from board member Polly Shaw, who discussed differences among the student handbooks at the district's three elementary schools.Shaw, along with former board member Kathleen Strickland and former Assistant Superintendent Jean Allen, began working last year to make the books more consistent with each other.While working on that, the women came up with three new “be” rules for students: be responsible, be respectful and be safe. Shaw said she would like the rules to be added to the books along with discussion questions for students.Superintendent Kathy Nogay said she liked the ideas.“I love them. I think they are very nice,” Nogay said.
