Man still critical after Christmas Day crash

PITTSBURGH — A Zelienople man remains in critical condition this morning in the trauma unit of Allegheny General Hospital after a Christmas Day crash.
Mark W. Brodie, 20, and his passenger, a 13-year-old Evans City girl, both were seriously injured in the crash on Brownsdale Road.
They were taken to Allegheny General in Pittsburgh after their car slammed into a tree near the intersection of Brownsdale Road and Meridian Road about 11:45 a.m. Friday.
The girl's condition is unknown because the hospital does not release information about minors.
According to state police, Brodie's car slid on ice along the road, across both lanes of traffic, and ended its 40-foot skid when the passenger side struck a large tree.
Both Brodie and his passenger had to be extricated from the car.
Penn Township police, the Penn Township Volunteer Fire Department, the Butler Ambulance Service and the Penn Township fire police assisted state police at the scene.
