Butler County Heritage Center, 119 W. New Castle St., celebrating the 150th anniversary of the birth of the oil industry with two exhibits, will be open from noon to 4 p.m. Sundays during November and December (except Dec. 20). The William A. Lowry Family exhibit is open for viewing. Lowry was a prominent Butler citizen who was a Civil War veteran and community leader. He married Annie Zeigler, daughter of politician Jacob Zeigler. Admission is $5 for adults, $2 for children ages 5 to 17, and free for those younger than 5. Call 724-283-8116.
Harmony Museum on Mercer Street in Harmony will host a scenic hike and "history party," commemorating George Washington's travels through Butler Country in 1753, on Nov. 27. The day starts and ends with Harmony Museum tours and a hot apple cider and cookies reception in the museum's Stewart Hall on the diamond. Event hours are 10 a.m. to 3 p.m., with hike departures scheduled for 11 and 11:45 a.m. and 12:45 p.m. Cost is $5 per person or $12 per family. The museum says reservations are encouraged. <B>Old Economy Village</B>, Route 65, Ambridge, is taking reservations through Friday for its Tante Kringle's Bakeri program planned for 10 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. Nov. 28. Children ages 6 to 12 can experience Tante's Berliners or donuts as Tante makes one "special" for each child. All will receive a ragball with little trinkets and candy inside.
