Portions of I-79 to be closed at night this week
Interstate 79 in northern Allegheny County will have several closures and lane restrictions nightly this week through Friday, weather permitting.
According to the state Department of Transportation, these restrictions will occur:
n Southbound I-79 will be closed from 9 p.m. to 6 a.m. Tuesday at the Wexford Interchange. Traffic will be detoured using the off and on ramps. Crews will be removing construction equipment and material from the Route 910 bridge over I-79.
• I-79 single lane traffic will occur in both directions from 7 p.m. to 6 a.m. Tuesday on the bridge over the Pennsylvania Turnpike. Work includes removing and installing pavement markings.
• On Wednesday, I-79 will be closed in both directions intermittently between 9 p.m. and 6 a.m. at the Wexford Interchange. Traffic will be detoured using the off and on ramps.
• On Thursday, northbound I-79 will be closed from 9 p.m. to 6 a.m. at the Wexford Interchange. Traffic will be detoured using the off and on ramps. Crews will remove construction equipment and material from the Route 910 bridge over I-79.
The I-79 bridge work is part of a $7.8 million contract with Brayman Construction of Saxonburg for improvements on four other bridge structures on I-79 in Allegheny County.
