2 killed, 2 seriously injured in Muddy Creek Twp. crash

MUDDY CREEK TWP — A one-car crash on Route 488, also known as Portersville Road, Wednesday night left two young men dead and two others seriously injured.

Corey R. Jones, 18, of Slippery Rock and Aaron J. Rensel, 18, of Portersville were pronounced dead at the scene where the 1994 Honda Civic crashed into a utility pole near 753 Portersville Road.

Kirk J. Hines, 20, of Butler and Justin M. Angerett, 18, of Butler were taken by medical helicopter to UPMC Presbyterian Hospital and Allegheny General Hospital, respectively, where they were listed in serious condition this morning.

Police said the car was speeding when it left the road and hit the pole. Police, who are continuing to investigate the crash, said they do not know who was driving the car.

All four young men were ejected from the vehicle, police said.
