Petrolia man leads police on high-speed chase
A Petrolia man is accused of dragging a trooper with his sport utility vehicle and then leading police on a high-speed chase early this morning that started in Chicora. The pursuit continued through four municipalities and ended when "stop sticks" blew out the tires on the suspect's vehicle, state police said. Police arrested Shane Travis Nolan, 36, of Petrolia, who later was jailed on felony assault, drunken driving and other charges. Trooper John Stutz suffered apparent injuries in the incident that began about 1:15 a.m. in the parking lot of the Friedman's supermarket on Route 68 in Chicora. Stutz and Trooper Gregory Brandt were looking for Nolan for an alleged protection from abuse violation involving his wife, when they spotted his 2005 Jeep Cherokee in the store lot.
