Two injured in 3-vehicle crash on Route 88

September 21, 2020 News Extra

Two people suffered apparent minor injuries this morning in a three-vehicle, chain-reaction crash on Route 68 near Oakdale Road in Butler Township.

The wreck happened about 7:30 a.m. as traffic was stopped for a school bus at the intersection, Butler Township police said.

A Subaru Forester traveling west rear-ended a Toyota Tacoma. The crash in turn pushed the pickup truck into the back of a Mercedes C300.

A police report was not immediately available and the names of the drivers were not released.

The drivers in the SUV and the pickup were alone in their vehicles, and there were four occupants in the car.

The wreck reduced traffic to one lane for about 30 minutes as emergency crews responded and tow trucks arrived to haul away the sport utility vehicle and the pickup.

Police said the driver of the SUV would be cited for driving too fast for conditions.
