A Chicora man was killed Wednesday night after losing control of his car on Clearfield Road.
State Police said John Best, 29, was driving south on the road, located in Clearfield Township, when he veered to the right and struck an embankment. Police don't know why this happened. Best then got back onto the road but the impact of the hit knocked the passenger-side rear tire off. He rolled off the road and onto the hillside. The accident occurred around 10:45 p.m.
The car finally stopped with the roof resting on the ground and Best was partially ejected from the car, police said. Best was pronounced dead on the spot and the passenger, who was not identified, was transported to Butler Memorial Hospital with unknown injuries.
