High school to host youth cheer camp
ADAMS TWP — Mars High School cheerleading program will hold its 2013 youth cheer camp from 6 to 7:30 p.m. May 7 to 9.

The program is open to students in kindergarten through sixth grade. Registration forms are available in each elementary schools main office.
Registration deadline is Monday. For more information, call 724-625-1581.

Mars Middle School to hold spirit dance
ADAMS TWP — Mars Middle School will hold a spirit dance/activity night from 7 to 9:30 p.m. Friday.
Mars Centennial School sixth-graders are invited to attend the dance. Student pickup times will be 9 p.m. for sixth-graders, 9:15 p.m. for seventh-graders and 9:30 p.m. for eight-graders.

Freshman honored in academic game
ADAMS TWP — Mars freshman Andrew Diefenbacher earned high honors in the Johns Hopkins University Center for Talented Youth's Talent Search.
Diefenbacher, 14, son of Gregg and Jennifer Diefenbacher of Mars, placed among the top 25 percent of students who scored at the High Honor level by taking the SAT or ACT in 2012. As an eighth-grader, Diefenbacher earned an SAT mathematics score of 660.
The Talent Search, open to students in second through eighth grades, tests students' knowledge beyond what is expected by their current grade level and challenges students to achieve their academic potential.
