SV Middle School students honored
JACKSON TWP — Five students represented Seneca Valley Middle School at the 2013 MATHCOUNTS Chapter competition held at Grove City College on Feb. 9.

MATHCOUNTS is a national enrichment club and competitive program that promotes middle school mathematics achievement and is sponsored by the National Society of Professional Engineers.
Matthew Sloan, Ryan Murtagh, Micah Hess, Alex Garcia, and Ryan Stelitano represented SVMS, placing second. Micah Hess earned a ninth place individual award and Alex Garcia placed fourth. Alex now moves on to the state level competition.
Seneca Valley to host 1st STEM fair
JACKSON TWP — The Seneca Valley STEM Fair, for student sin grades 7 to 12, will be held in the senior high school from 6 to 8 p.m. Thursday.
In addition to the STEM projects, the physics photo contest will be on display and the public will have a chance to cast votes. The contest consists of taking an original photograph and a 250-word explanation of the physics concepts(s) being demonstrated in the photo.
The STEM FAIR is being held in conjunction with the district's newly formed National Science Honor Society and SV Science Honor Society.
