Teen driver seriously injured in 1-car crash



CRANBERRY TWP — The teenage driver of a car that hit a telephone pole along Route 19 was seriously injured Friday night.

Township police Sgt. Chuck Mascellino said the driver, a 17-year-old Gibsonia girl, is expected to recover.
Following the accident, she was taken to Allegheny General Hospital for treatment.
Mascellino said her three teenage passengers, who live in either Gibsonia or Valencia, received minor injuries.
The vehicle’s occupants’ names were not released.
Police are investigating the cause.
The highway remained open while the accident was cleared. Traffic on the southbound lanes of the highway were diverted to the middle turning lane.
Along with township police, the Cranberry Township Volunteer Fire Company responded to the 7:57 p.m. 911 call. Crews cleared the scene by 9:40 p.m.
