Symphony announces Young Artist winner



Kylee O’Donnell, originally from Valencia, is the winner of the Young Artist Competition conducted in January by the Butler County Symphony Orchestra.

She is a sophomore majoring in flute performance at Duquesne University.
She has participated in flute festivals in Ohio, West Virginia and Canada and has performed with the Duquesne University Symphony Orchestra, Pittsburgh Philharmonic and the Pittsburgh Youth Symphony Orchestra.
O’Donnell will perform with the orchestra at its March 9 concert at the Butler Intermediate High School auditorium.
She will perform Chaminade’s “Concertino for Flute and Orchestra.”
Tickets are $18 in advance or $20 at the door. Student tickets are $5.
The competition featured 11 college-aged students from Slippery Rock University, Indiana (Pa.) University, Westminster College and Duquesne University.  
Applications were accepted from college students up to age 25 living or attending college within a 25-mile radius of Butler.
