Cranberry event offers lots for all to see, do

WARRENDALE — Everything a homeowner would want was sprawled throughout the Four Points Sheraton Pittsburgh North over the weekend as visitors looked at how they could improve a room or build their dream kitchen or bathroom.
The annual Cranberry Home Show featured a variety of home improvements for kitchens, bathrooms, appliances and other items for the home.
Snowy weather Friday hampered attendance some, but the rest of the weekend saw good crowds.
Jarrod Kish, partner with Steel City Granite on Route 19 in Cranberry Township, said his company attended to keep in touch with customers. The company installs granite for both homeowners and commercial contractors.
“We came to socialize with the people of Cranberry. We do a lot of business here,” Kish said. “Last year, we installed 1,200 granite kitchens.”
The free show had vendors and exhibitors offering a variety of products and services.
Visitors got ideas, investigated new products, gathered information and talked to professionals to help make their next project easier.
Exhibitors showcased kitchens, room additions, windows, doors, sunrooms, fencing, fitness spas, remodeling contractors, landscaping, decks, flooring, appliances, home security, basements, cabinets, waterproofing, and bathrooms.
Some vendors brought their own unique flair that may not have been home improvement related.
Belinda Aquino, owner of Hotpak Huggies based in Sharpsburg, said she attended to showcase her products in the Cranberry area.
She makes microwaveable heating pads and cold packs in the shape of cuddly, huggable animals. The animals are filled with nontoxic gel that stay hot or cold for five to six hours.
Marsha Strobel, owner of Cowgirl Kettle Corn & Cinnamon Roasted Nuts of Killbuck, Ohio, traveled three hours in the snow Friday to get to the show.
“We do all the shows with Mid-America events. They have been very successful for us,” Strobel said.
