MIDDLESEX TWP — Supervisors on Wednesday approved a $1.8 million budget for 2013 that does not include a tax increase.

Township property owners currently pay 11.5 mills in taxes, with the general operating fund using 9 mills, the debt service fund 1 mill and the fire tax 1.5 mills.
One mill brings in almost $52,000 in the township.
A mill generates $1 in tax income for each $1,000 of a property’s assessed value.
Township accomplishments in 2012 listed on the budget summary include upgrades to the stormwater system’s infrastructure, road resurfacing and initial renovations at the municipal building.
Goals for the upcoming year include installation of underground electric cable from the volunteer fire company to the municipal building across the street, the expenditure of $365,000 for the continuation of the township’s aggressive road improvement plan, and to upgrade the municipal building with a new heating system, ceiling tiles and insulation in various locations.
