Ice rink coming to Seven Fields

SEVEN FIELDS — The borough will soon have a portable outdoor ice rink in the park after borough council Monday night approved its purchase.

Borough manager Tom Smith expects the rink to be delivered by the end of December, although he’s not sure if it will be in place by Christmas.
Council voted to buy the rink for no more than $3,500.
It is nearly 2,000 square feet and will hold 4,000 gallons of water.
“I think it’s going to set us out as a really unique community,” councilwoman Jennifer Sikora said. “I don’t know of any other community around here that has this.”
Park rules, such as parental supervision and closing times, will apply to the ice rink.
Smith said he’s been in contact with Fox Chapel in Allegheny County, a municipality that recently bought a similar rink. Officials there have offered valuable advice regarding the rink, he said.
The public works department will be in charge of maintenance.
