Christmas Home Tour is a Zelienople holiday tradition

ZELIENOPLE — There will be more than 10 homes decorated in different holiday styles and traditions for the Zelienople Historical Society’s 20th annual Christmas Home Tour on Dec. 1.
“There will be a big variety of homes for people to get some decorating ideas,” said historical society director Elizabeth Kelleher. “It’s always fun to go from house to house and talk about what you like and what you want for your own house.
On the tour is a brick home built in 1913 on Main Street with 12 rooms, a cedar log cabin home, a traditional home built in 1963 in Zelienople and one built in the 1920’s that used to be a one-room schoolhouse, just to name of few.
Those taking the tour will meet at the museum at 9 a.m., where the tour maps will be handed out.
The maps will include descriptions of each of the homes on the tour.
There will be a break that includes a catered luncheon. There will be door prizes and basket giveaways along with the winning ticket for the society’s annual quilt raffle.
Money raised from the tour and raffle support the society’s ongoing educational programs and help fund operations for the society’s two historic properties, the Passavant and Buhl houses.
Tickets are $22. They are available by calling the historical society at 724-452-9457 or by stopping by the office at 243 S. Main St. between 9 a.m. and noon weekdays. Deadline to buy tour tickets is Nov. 28.
Quilt raffle tickets are also available at the office for $1 per ticket.
