Red Lobster may be on way to township

CRANBERRY TWP — The Cranberry Mall may get a new Red Lobster restaurant as company officials presented their case Thursday to the township supervisors for a liquor license transfer to the site of the King’s Family Restaurant.
The supervisors approved the transfer to the location at 20117 Route 19.
Mark Kozar, attorney representing GMR Restaurants of Pennsylvania, a subsidiary of Darden Restaurants, said the proposed 5,880-square-foot restaurant would seat 220 people. It will employee 104 part-time employees.
The plan is for King’s restaurant to be torn down and a Red Lobster to be built.
Land development plans for the Red Lobster were approved Monday by the township planning advisory commission.
In other land development news:
• The supervisors approved tentative plans for 37 new homes, 45 townhouses and 252 apartment units at a new development at the intersection of Freshcorn and Powell roads. It will include a roundabout at the intersection to handle the additional traffic that will be generated by the residential development that is near the Cranberry Highlands Golf Course.
• The supervisors learned the Vision Baptist Church will worship at an existing building at 730 Parkwood Place that is an outparcel of the Woodlands housing development. The church previously had used the building as its offices, but it was approved by the supervisors to host church services there.
