Building contract approved

The Butler County commissioners on Wednesday approved a contract with the Butler division of Stantec to design a new office building next to the government center.

The contract will amount to 3.8 percent of building construction costs, or $380,000 if the $10 million construction estimate becomes the actual number.
Commissioners Bill McCarrier and Dale Pinkerton approved the agreement while Commissioner Jim Eckstein dissented.
The commissioners also authorized chief clerk Bill O’Donnell and solicitor Julie Graham to negotiate a contract with Public Financial Management to be the financial adviser for the project.
