Woman injured in head-on collision on Route 422

PROSPECT —- Dianne M. Daubenspeck, 71, of Prospect was extricated from her Dodge Stratus after a head-on collision on Route 422 trapped her in the car about 11:45 a.m. Wednesday.
State police trooper Adam Peth said Daubenspeck was stopped in the turning lane heading west in front of Roxy's Diner when a Jeep Liberty traveling east crossed the lane and hit the car.
Judith Albert, 55, of Penn Township drove the Jeep and was not injured. There were no passengers in either vehicle.
"I just didn't see her," Albert said. "I don't know how I drifted."
State police said Daubenspeck was conscious at the scene and suffered moderate injuries. She was taken by helicopter to UPMC Presbyterian in Pittsburgh, according to state police.
Unionville and Prospect volunteer fire departments responded and had to cut off the roof and a side of the Stratus to free Daubenspeck from the vehicle. The car was smashed around her.
Butler and Portersville Ambulance crews assisted at the scene.
State police directed traffic on the two-lane route as the car was towed and the scene investigated.
Daubenspeck was in fair condition Wednesday afternoon, according to Stacey Simon, media coordinator at UPMC.
State police are investigating the accident.
